starting the new year with an adventure

It was 2019, and I just met Jazmine for the first time. She had signed up for a photography project I was doing called "The Front Porch Project." She was one of my first photography clients, and I was so nervous. I was put at ease right away with her kindness.

Fast forward to 2022. It's wedding day.

The bride put on her wedding dress. She was, in a word, stunning. With the help of a few ladies who mean the world to her, the veil was secured into place. Everything every little girl dreams of on her wedding day. They stood together, hand in hand. Their little boys running in circles around them as they shared the vows that they had written. It was a cold January day, the kind Minnesota is known for. This day had been a long time coming, and everything was beautiful. The tables displayed detailed and thoughtful decorations, and the wedding party smiled as Jazmine and Darius sincerely shared the vows. The emotional release was as palpable as it was powerful.

As the music started, and Dad and Daughter stepped out for their dance. He held her close as they swayed around the dance floor. Bride and her Dad...her first best friend. All was silent as family and friends watched this special moment. From beginning to end, Jazmine and Darius’s wedding was a dream. Yes, the details were flawless, the flowers were stunning, the setting was breathtaking, but that’s not what I'll remember most about this day. It was the love. The joy. The laughter. The tears. The kind of tight-knit family feel every person hopes for when they begin a family of their own.

Jazmine and Darius, thank you, from the bottom of my heart for letting me have the honor of helping document one of the most important days of your life. You are two of the kindest, warmest, most genuine people and it’s such an honor for us to be your photographers!

Everyone deserves to find their “person,” their better half, the one who completes them and makes them whole –– and I couldn’t be happier that you’ve found that in each other. Cheers to life continued as Mr and Mrs. McCane!
